JPEGCompress is a photo edition and compression tool. It allows you to decrease the size of your pictures by applying JPEG compression to them. Most images taken by digital cameras are in this format, because it allows for nice quality and small files. JPEGCompress allows you to further compress JPEG photos to save some disk space. The application also has some other basic edition tools.
Regarding compression, JPEGCompress does an OK job of compressing pictures. You can effectively decrease the size of your pictures by loading them into the application and moving a sliding bar that sets the compression of the picture. By default, the slider is at 90, and I managed to compress a 90KB image into a 50KB one by moving the slider down to 44. I started noticing some artifacts and a general decrease in quality, though. Other applications I have tried are more successful in preventing the appearance of pixels and artifacts. In other words, this app doesn't excel at what it does, but it does it well.
Other than compressing your files, JPEGCompress can modify file resolution, crop an image, and apply a variety of effects. Of course, rotation and flipping are there.
All in all, this seems to be an all-in-one app that can compress and edit your pictures. It has a nice batch processing mode for when you need to process several pics at once and a great interface.
